    Amazon.com Product Description
The ultimate motorcycle racing game is back--and totally customizable. Build your own tracks with the new 3-D track creator and share them with your friends. Feel the adrenaline rush of high-speed racing with improved graphics and more 3-D acceleration. Choose a tire-smokin' superbike or a rugged motorcross bike and hang on for the ride of your life.

    GameSpot Review
Bigger and better than its predecessor, Moto Racer 2 from Electronic Arts and Delphine offers more tracks, more bikes, and a custom track-editing feature that seriously enhances the game's replay value. This is still not a true motorcycle simulation, but as arcade racers go, Moto Racer 2 is one of the best.

Like the original game, Moto Racer 2 allows you to race superbikes or motocross dirt bikes on a variety of tracks. There are eight different bikes in each category, each with its own ratings for brakes, grip, top speed, and acceleration. As in the previous version, the quality of your brakes is meaningless, because you rarely use the things. Top speed and acceleration are usually the most important items to consider, though a good grip rating becomes vital in bad weather conditions.

One of the game's strengths is the sheer number of tracks available to you right at the outset - a whopping 32. True, eight of these tracks are repetitive simple loops that are intended as templates for the track editor (more on that in a second), but the other 24 tracks still represent a refreshing change from the usual "win on every track and we'll unlock one more" formula. The tracks are split evenly between superbike and motocross courses, and the environments include city streets, a rain forest, the desert, and the countryside of Brittany.

If the basic tracks aren't quite enough to satisfy you, the game also allows you to create and edit your own tracks with a slick built-in editing tool. Beginning with a flat circle, you can add and move control points, which allow you to alter the shape of the track. You can then raise and lower control points to create hills and valleys. The editor warns you when you've created too sharp a curve or too steep a hill, so you're pretty much assured of building a decent track every time. Finally, you can select any one of the game's preset environments for your track, and the editor will apply it automatically. It would have been nice to have more freedom in the placing of certain scenic elements (such as tunnels and bridges), but overall the editor is impressive. Once you have a track built and saved, you can easily share it with other Moto Racer 2 fans - each custom track file only takes up about 1KB of disk space. The track editor helps to keep the game playable even after you've conquered all the default courses. Better yet, it brings back fond memories of EA's Racing Destruction Set (for those Commodore 64 veterans out there).

Gameplay is pretty much like the original Moto Racer. The game is not a motorcycle simulation, but it does feel sufficiently different from most car-racing games. Also, Moto Racer 2 does a great job of conveying the sheer speed of each race: When you top 150mph in Moto Racer 2, you really feel like you're going that fast. The difficulty levels are well stepped so that you can win pretty easily on the lowest setting but will be hard-pressed to place in the top three on the highest.

After playing Motocross Madness, some gamers may be disappointed by the limited - and relatively tame - tricks available in Moto Racer 2's motocross mode. Some other gameplay elements are disappointing as well, such as the fact that your speed drops almost to zero when you brush another bike - even though that bike continues to fly along at its previous pace. Also, the hard-to-spot curbs along the side of most tracks have the same deadening effect on your bike and will virtually eliminate you from contention after a single bump on the highest difficulty setting. Rarely will you ever crash in this game, unless you hit an obstacle during a wheelie (and then you might as well give up, as the game waits for an excruciatingly long time before setting you back on your bike). In fact, if you hit a jump poorly during a motocross race and start flying off the track, an invisible barrier will snap you right back in bounds, and you won't even lose control of your bike.

Obviously, the game was intended for fast-paced arcade action, and on that level it performs admirably. So long as you're not looking for a pure motorcycle sim with realistic physics and tons of motocross tricks to land, you simply can't go wrong with Moto Racer 2. With two racing modes, thrilling gameplay, a ton of tracks, and a track editor, Moto Racer 2 offers a whole lot of action for any arcade racing fan. --Michael E. Ryan

    WOW!5
From the moment I installed this game on my computer i have been amazed! the physics are unbelievable. I got used to the controls within secounds. The ability to customize everything is what i really like, you can get a template to customize skins and even download a track editor! But i would have to say the best thing about this game is the guys at the message board. They are really helpful and offer all new skins and tracks all the time! If you're gonna buy any game this year BUY THIS ONE!

    Cool Game4
This is a really cool game I think. The graphics are good, but less detail than Motocross Madness 2, and it has better physics and the bike controls more like a real bike. I didnt like the way u get stunts tho, u have to do some stunts to unlock new ones, and to get tracks u have to earn them, i think. What i would do is buy this and Mcm2 cause the both rock and are pretty cheap.

    Not worth buying1
After reading all the hype about this game being better then MCM2 I was very disappointed after buying it. For starters. There is a know joystick/game pad bug in the game. Fortunately Deibus has provided a patch on their website to correct this problem. After installing the patch game play was still very twitchy. Using the keyboard provides alittle more control over the bike. Its not as twicthy as it is with a gamepad.

The track layouts are very weak.No challenge like mcm2 Graphics are crisp and clear and bike and rider physics are alittle better then mcm2 but over all the game is very difficult to play with a joystick. After 2 days of frustrating game play. Motocross mania has been wiped off my pc. If you like to play games using a keyboard and enjoy console games. You have enjoy this title. Your best bet is Motocross Madness 2. Graphics are not as good but game play is Great!!

    From the Manufacturer

Mount & Blade: Warband is the eagerly anticipated standalone expansion to the original PC role-playing game (RPG), Mount & Blade. Revolving around true-to-life medieval combat, action in Warband utilizes realistic mounted combat and era specific weapons and armor, not magic. It also features a detailed fighting system, user generated content and mods, the ability to command units in single player and multiplayer, up to 64-player support online and multiple online multiplayer modes.

    Story
In a land torn asunder by incessant warfare, it is time to assemble your own band of hardened warriors and enter the fray. In Mount & Blade: Warband, you lead your men into battle, expand your realm within the land of Calradia. Calradia is a land at war, a land offering great riches and even greater dangers to the adventurers and mercenaries that flock to shed their blood on its soil. With unerring courage and a strong sword, a warrior can make a name as for himself here and more. Raise a band of hardened soldiers, become the lord of several towns and castles, and perhaps one day you may wield the power to depose kings and perhaps take their thrones for yourself.

    Gameplay
Mount & Blade: Warband is an action RPG that utilizes medieval weapons, units, combat techniques—especially cavalry—and strategy exclusively. It does not feature magic. It is a standalone expansion of the original game's universe and play mechanics, meaning that the original Mount & Blade game is not necessary for play. In single player mode players create a character, align themselves with one of the five fictional, yet historically realistic, factions existing in the gameworld and set off to carve out a realm for themselves is the kingdom of Calradia. Along the way they will meet units of other factions on the field of battle and with continued success against them gain experience and level up their character, and units. Along with being able to control their character, players are able to command and control their units in a real-time strategy (RTS) like capacity. Unlike the original game, in Warband players are afforded more diplomatic tools and strategies—such as political marriages—which can ultimately allow them to move beyond simply overthrowing a monarch, instead allowing them to take the throne themselves and even install vassals.

    Multiplayer Options
Again, setting itself apart from the original single player game, Mount & Blade: Warband allows for a wide variety of online multiplayer scenarios. These range from near massive multiplayer online conflicts that support up to 64 players, to more organized smaller skirmishes. Modes available online include: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Conquest, Battle, and Siege. Within select online multiplayer modes units can be commanded in the RTS fashion available in single player. In this players take control of a set number of bot units in all out competition against all other players, or gather their controlled units together within a single faction splitting battlefield responsibilities in their fight against others. In this, Mount & Blade: Warband allows players to unleash both their individual character's skill at arms, as well as their overall ability to strategize on the battlefield in live play.

    Key Game Features

  • A standalone expansion game set in the Mount & Blade universe that does not require the original game in the series.
  • Engrossing RPG play in single player mode that enables players to fight their way, by themselves or with AI companions, through medieval battle fields and environments to become king by their own hand.
  • The ability both in single player and select multiplayer modes to command forces in RTS like combat.
  • Large-scale multiplayer battles with up to 64 players. Multiplayer modes include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Conquest, Battle, and Siege.
  • State-of-the-art rendering technologies combine with a more informative interface, allowing new and advanced players alike to enjoy an unprecedented level of immersion.
  • New diplomatic abilities like the ability to marry a lady of the realm for romance or cold political gain. Try to win a lady’s heart through poetry or bravery.
  • Groundbreaking mounted combat and realistic medieval specific RPG play.
  • A mod friendly gameplay environment where players can introduce all manner of original content that allows for the altering of character appearance, advanced customization, differing rule/game types and more.

    Works Flawlessly5
I use this with my MythTv DVR to convert VGA signals to composite and broadcast through the coax signals in the rest of the house. So the same show is on every TV no matter where I go.

The main TV is high-def 1920x1080. I cut out a 1280x1024 section of that to broadcast to the rest of the house. This works flawlessly. Using the the composite out of the video card does not allow displaying 1280x1024 section.

    Very Good, but not GREAT4
This game is very fun. It lives up to the saga. The idea of the slates is neat and inventive. Having the 3D characters is a nice refreshing idea. Plus, the environments are very realistic and engrossing. The idea of having multiple ways to explore is very nice. I love also that in the point and click mode you are not just going picture to picture, but you do move to the next spot. And the puzzles are always good.

However, I am not giving it all 5 stars. The reasons are because the worlds are not that large (some say they were meant for URU Live . . . which I hope they get back up and running once more), the puzzles are sometimes a little bit easy, and the journal you keep always opens up to the first page. It is annoying that you have to flip through the countless pages to get back to where you last wrote.

But, this game is worth it, and this special edition is great. I love the extra DVD and the booklet teaches you to write in D'ni and count numbers in D'ni and a wonderful collection of photos and drawings from all the games. If you are a MYST fan, get it.

    Puzzle solving at it's best5
I have enjoyed playing and re-playing the Myst series. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good logic puzzles.

    Starforce is bad1
It's too bad this game uses Starforce copy protection. I don't want to copy the game or do anything illeagal, but I can't use any CD burning software with this installed. Also if you remove it, starforce does not come off your PC. If you google "starforce removal tool" you can download an exe to remove starforce from your PC. You also have to take a few other steps, you will find instructions there. There is currently a boycott on games using starforce, and for good reason. I do not recommend buying this game.

    Great games, poor user interface3
I received this for Christmas and wasn't able to get it to work for two days. My computer's hardware well exceeded the system requirements for the software. After digging around I discovered I needed to update the drivers for my video card. The software uses DirectX 9.0c so you'll want to make sure your video drivers are up to date. The game cd uses copy protection which means you have to insert it every time you want to play the game. It doesn't just check the disk when you start the program. It checks it every time it loads one of the individual games. So unless you're able to make a copy of the disk with the copy protection intact I suggest you keep the disk in a safe place where it won't get damaged. Also the autorun program on the cd is poorly designed. Most game cd's Ive seen will load the installation program if the game isn't already installed and then after that will load the game screen when the cd is inserted. This cd wants to load the installation program every time you insert the cd, even after the program is already installed. I have to remember to hold to the SHIFT key on my computer when I insert the cd to keep the installation program from trying to run.

Once you're actually into the program you're in an arcade room with the games in front of you on a rotating platform. There are 14 games available for play. There's also 2 additional games that are locked until you reach a certain score on some of the other games. The games themselves don't allow you to tweak them very much. About the only thing you can do is change the number of lives in each game. The controls aren't very tweakable either. You have the choice of either using a joystick or the keyboard but I would've liked to have been able to use the mouse in some of the games. Steering the car in Pole Position using the arrow keys on the keyboard is next to impossible. Using a mouse would offer greater control. Controlling the Pac-Man games is frustrating too. In the real machines and on another PC version of Pac-Man put out by another company you can move the joystick in the direction you want Pac-Man to go before you actually have to make a turn. For example if the Pac-Man figure is moving to the left and you want it to turn and go upwards at the next intersection you can move the joystick upwards before the Pac-Man figure reaches the intersection and then when it reaches the intersection it will automatically turn in the right direction. On the Namco Museum 50th Anniversary edition of Pac-Man you have to wait until you reach an intersection before making a turn. That makes it harder to try to follow a pattern. The graphics are okay but they could have been better. You have a choice of normal graphics or smooth graphics. Smooth graphics eliminates the blocky edges but it makes the picture so blurry that you'll wonder if your eyes are going bad. So I leave the smooth graphics option turned off. The scale seems to be a bit off too. I've noticed in both Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man that the dots appear to be of various sizes. I'm surprised Digital Eclipse did such a poor job with them since they did such an excellent job with the old Atari games on "Atari Anniversary Edition". Perhaps Namco didn't give them enough time to do the graphics properly.

Now about that blaring music that plays when you're at the game selection screen, if you want to get rid of it here's how. The songs are basic wma files. The files are located in the pcFE folder which is located in the Namco/Namco Museum 50th Anniversary/classic folder. Deleting the files won't work because the game will reload them when it checks the cd. You can however change the content of the files so they play nothing. First open up the sound recorder program on your computer. If you can't find it then simply go to Start, Run, and type in sndrec32 and click ok. Next click the record button on sound recorder and record a blank sound. You only need a split second of it. Also make sure you don't have any microphones attached. Click on File at the top of the window and select Save as. It doesn't matter where you save the file as long as you remember where it is. The important thing is to save it as a .wma file. I simply named mine test.wma. Next COPY the file into the pcFE folder along with all the other .wma files. Right click on the file and select Rename. Type in the name of the .wma file you wish to replace. For example, one of the files in the pcFe folder is ComeOnEileen.wma. If I no longer wish to hear that song I simply delete it and then rename my test.wma file to ComeOnEileen.wma. When the program tries to play "Come on Eileen" it's able to play it but now of course the sound is nothing but silence. To delete the other songs simply repeat the process. If you wish to save the songs rather than delete them simply move them to another folder.

You'll notice I've said nothing about the games themselves so far. Since these are all old titles you're probably already familiar with them. I remember all of these games back in their heyday so I was glad to be able to play them again. The games themselves are great. It's the software that the games come bundled with that needs work.

Games are cool, but Namco stinks!1
Here is a quote from their customer support:

"We have noticed that if you are running the game on a burning drive ie CD-RW then the game won't run."

When I asked when a fix was anticipated, I didn't get a response.

Also, it requires the CD to run. (It uses Starforce 3 copy protection, and it has to scan the disc everytime you select a different game to run...)

And it plays some very obnoxious music while you are selecting a game or adjusting options.

The games are fine, but the "packaging" that Namco put it in is truly awful.
