- how 'Gladiator' the movie influenced the decision to cover Roman period in the third game;
- how many future installments we should be expecting in this series before it runs out of gas
Enjoy!
Great Series.
Awesome games for those that like to control large real-time battles. This set its worth every penny and you don't have to have the latest and greatest machine to play (P3 1.0 GHZ and 256 MB RAM is the minimum requirement.
This is a great collections package
It is totally worth the price that I paid for. I lost my Shogun CD a long time ago and it was great to reconquer Japan all over again by relying on superb tactics rather than novel weaponry from abroad.
As for the Medieval, the defense against the onslaught of the Mongol Horde was an tiring yet exuberant epic that has robbed me of countless weekends.
Nevertheless, Rome is still my favorite thus far with its intricate plot.
And this package has them all!!!
Situational awareness in a box
Yes it's expensive but one you have used it, you can't live without it. Using a hat-switch to look around in air combat simulations cannot compare to simply moving your head naturally to pan around as if you are in the plane. Once you own one, flying without it is just not worth it. Do yourself a favor and buy one. I bought mine directly from the trackir website. You can get a better deal by buying from Amazon or an Amazon retailer.
Most important flight sim add-on!
I fly Microsoft Flight Sim X as a way to keep my head in flying while I cannot afford to exersize my real life certificate. I've been wanting one of these for a while and during the wait, Natural Point put out the new version 5. I finally bought it and, all I can say is "WOW!"
Okay, that's not all I can say. When the package arrived, quickly I might add, from GoGamer, I was surprised at the size of the box. It was well over-packed and protected from the rigors of shipping. The actual unit is quite small. Unpacking from the bubble package is easier than the normal bubble packaging, too. I was going to wait for Christmas, put it under the tree, etc. but the kids will just have to understand!
Setup is a snap. Installed the software from the website first, then plugged it all up. It just works. I picked one of the default profiles and went flying. It was wonderful to look around the airplane, although I habitually use the hat switch which is now largely useless. I haven't even explored all the settings, profiles, or adjusted anything but the flying is 100% better. I turned my head to look where the runway is! Simple thing, but so, so important for realism. Imagine leaning in forward to see and set the radio, or turn the OBS knob to a precise setting, or craning your neck up to see over the dash better. I'm hoping today to explore the settings some more. I picked a profile that moves actually too well. I need to expand the "dead zone" just a bit so my head movements don't make flying into what my wife calls a puke ride. It isn't of course.
The only difficulty I've had so far is trying to assign buttons for "Center" and "Pause" to my Saitek yoke. I haven't figured out how to make it work. But this is due to my not having explored the software yet. The buttons assign in the Track IR software, but when I start the sim, they aren't functioning. I need to RTM.
Bottom line: This Track IR should win the Nobel Peace Prize. It is an OUTSTANDING product. Even at the default settings I'm still using, it is a HUGE improvement over using the hatswitch for panning, the + and - buttons for zooming, the shift+enter to raise my head, etc. It's only going to get better for me as I improve my personal profile settings. If you are not sold on it yet, read flight sim forums for reviews. There are YouTube videos you can watch it in action. No one ever says they don't like it. If you're reading this review, you want it anyway. Buy it. You will NOT regret your purchase.
slight better than v4
Compared to the Trackir v4, the v5 is smoothier, and in general you don't need to "recenter" very often. Also, you have more room to move your head, specially when leaning. Considering that v4 is already a 5 star device in my opinion, you can't go wrong with v5. If you have a v4, there is really no necessity to upgrade, but if you're going for your first trackir, don't hesitate - buy v5.
Free Game!
Ok, why would anyone buy this? You can get it for free on Nadeo's website.
do not buy!
This is probably the worts edition, not the game itself just this retail version that it can be found on the internet for free of charge. So, do ur self a favor and dont buy this anywhere, anytime and for no one!
A great add-on for Flight Simulator
I thoroughly enjoy Traffic. The program replaces the default AI traffic (Orbit, Landmark, and other fictional airlines) with real-world aviation traffic. And not just the standard run-of-the-mill liveries - some airlines have special paint jobs. For example, at Sky Harbor, I recently observed the America West Phoenix Suns plane. And at San Francisco International, I recently saw a Disneyland-ified plane (not sure which airline it was for). Plus, there's tons of general aviation flights. The program contains a number of extra goodies as well, including the ability to drive around an airport in a ground vehicle, and the ability to view airport traffic from a virtual control tower.
This is a great add-on by a company known for making great products for Flight Simulator. You won't be disappointed.
Top value!
When compared to the competition around from other AI traffic programs, this one is clearly streets ahead. Installation is a snap and it's got loads of different tools. If you like tweaking and fiddling then it's a world beater. At thirty bucks it's good value and - as they say on the box - it really is as busy as it gets! The aircraft models are really good and Spotty the spotter (duff name guys) is a great idea. However, you need to be careful you don't turn the traffic density up too high unless you have a decent PC, but otherwise I would say it's pretty cool. Odd to see a reviewer saying that the protection software is a virus. These guys are the largest flight sim company next to Microsoft and Traffic is a peach. If you get worried by installers then you probably live in a house with tinfoil on the windows and drink boiled water. But, if you want to stop your sim airports looking like the Nevada Desert on a Sunday, then this baby is the one.
Waste of money and Dangerous
This add-on for FS is definatly NOT worth $30. Worse, it should have a big red warning label on it's Amazon page that it will (without asking your permission) modify WINDOWS system files and the registry to install a disk driver for the Safedisc copy protection. (Which will open ring-0 admin access to ANY program.) Definatly not worth the security risk, and I have news for this publisher, the add-on itsself isnt worth copy protecting. If I were a software pirate, I wouldnt steal this.
Beyond that, the program looks like something out of FS4 or FS5... The user interface is SO obviously visual basic version 5; or sure looks like it. After spending large sums of money on hardware to get the great graphics of FS-X this was a real let down. Their models are a joke.
I dont know how well it works in FS2004 but in FS-X their "redesigned" airport layouts are very poorly done. Aircraft parking spaces often are inside terminal buildings and all those great jetways that we waited 10 versions of FS to get ... are gone.
I will admit I didnt get past KLAX airport, but it was enough to convince me I had been robbed of $30 and had a virus installed for my trouble... tearing this POS out tonight.

Not what I expected
Maybe I'm a little dense, but after reading what this game was about, it sounded like it would be a good adventure game, however I did not realize by what was written about Treasure Hunt that this is a Internet Game Only!!! I would not have purchased it had I known. After playing it for a few hours, I was finally at a point to start the treasure hunt, the graphics are not of very good quality, and the game is slow and boring, I have already taken it off my computer, and am very dissapointed that it was a "Internet play only game"
Stuck!
I did not realise when I purchased this item that it was an Internet-only game. After two quite lengthy attempts, I am thoroughly confused because there are no basic instructions. The instructions that are available seem to have been badly translated from the French language. I am having difficulty in even logging in to the game! Disappointed at present, but I will persevere.
