Good, except for D-pad rotation
Everything about this controller is good except the direction (D) pad. Unless mine has a defect (I don't think it does), there is a small flaw in the design of the circuit:
If you hold UP on the D-pad, then rotate to UP-RIGHT or UP-LEFT, then release the RIGHT or LEFT component, the controller does not disengage the RIGHT or LEFT signal, but still registers a diagonal direction. The same thing happens if you hold DOWN, then rotate to DOWN-RIGHT or DOWN-LEFT, then back again. The same thing also happens if you start by holding LEFT or RIGHT and rotate to an adjacent diagonal. If you have any experience with Street Fighter II, or other games that require D-pad rotational maneuvers, you will see the problem this causes.
In short, the controller cannot disengage any cardinal direction unless the opposite direction is pressed, or the entire D-pad is disengaged.
Apart from that issue, the controller is compatible, comfortable, durable, and has enough buttons to use with a PSX emulator or an emulator for any previous console. Just don't try to throw a fireball in Street Fighter games, and this controller will serve you well.

I think this controller is pretty good. The size and shape of it is pretty cool and its pretty versitile. Use it for some flite simulators and Croc 2.

Excellent Product
The CH Products MFP is an excellent hardware addition for anyone who uses software that has a set of regularly used input commands (photo or video editing programs, for example) or people looking for the ultimate gaming pad. The manufacturer's description does a good job of outling the MFP's function, so I'll stick to items that you will not find in that description.
The panel itself is fairly rugged, and mine has taken a lot of use and abuse. There should be no concerns about the adhesive keys - the adhesive is strong enough to keep the keys in place during use, but I have never had a problem prying the keys from the key tray to reposition them. The keys themselves are appropriately "springy," and offer good tactile feedback.
The Control Panel software (the user interface) is functional, but not as intuitive as one would like. You will have to read the instructions, which are provided in electronic form and not as a hard copy manual, in order to understand key programming. The instructions themselves are fairly detailed, but again, could be better. CH Products has released a Vista-compatible version of its software - if your MFP does not ship with that software, it can be easily downloaded from the manufacturer's website. Despite the software's shortcomings, the MFP is still a great product.
Additional "accessories" can be purchased for the MFP. These include additional key trays, which allow the user to quickly swap key sets, and keys 26-50 for those who need more than the standard 25 keys that come with the panel. I had a hard time finding retailers who sold the accessories, but they can be purchased online directly from the manufacturer.
There seems to be some confusion between the MFP and a similar product, Ergodex's DX1. Although they look nearly identical, they are not. Neither the hardware accessories (the keys, for instance), nor the user interface software are compatible or interchangeable. Also, as of the time of this review, Ergodex had yet to release Vista-compatible software, which may have caused some to believe that the MFP did not function with Vista.
Overall, the MFP is a great product.
To clear up any misunderstanding
The CH Products MFP is a different unit than the DX-1 offered by Ergodex. With CH's Control Manager software, the MFP supports Windows 98, ME, 2K, XP, XP 64 bit, AND Vista 32 and 64 bit. Always has.

Yes, Grab One!
Here is the review that I wished was available when I was shopping mine.
First for users of the Erogdex, it's the same thing, same function, same everything except for the Programming, like Aspirin Boy below, unless you are an out n out expert in computer science (& pig latin) you will never figure it out. Both the help guide on the CD and all the info provided is a complete train wreck and must be re-written for the "majority" of us to understand. Big problem I had in all my reading was all the help that was offered in forums, etc, is all aimed at every CH Product EXCEPT the MFP. Joysticks, Rudders, Pedals, etc.,
HOWEVER, what they fail to mention is that set up configuration is the same, no matter the product. [...]
Even thou they show a Combat Stick, the set-up directions for the "Multi Function Pad" is identical. Do like I did, get the MFP installed and running, open the Program Manager, have it one window, with the directions link open along side, and you will be in expert inside 2 minutes.
So, to the unit itself, they are a gamers dream, along with AutoCAD users or anyone that has a need to replace 1-50 keystrokes with one simple touch of MFP key. You can program any number of key strokes, mouse clicks, only limiter is your imagination. I don't play WoW, but I understand those Ork Humpers love these things cuz of the multitude of key strokes you have to remember. I am strictly a FPS player and anyone that plays ARMA2 knows you have to memorize to many keystrokes to play the way it is designed, the MFP fixes that. Currently (SEP 09) I am playing L4D, TF2, Wolfenstein, the MFP works great for all of these.
Backing up just a bit, if you have never used the Erogdex or the MFP, the best thing about this unit is that you place your hand on the unit, note where your finger tips are, and Bam! There is your W,A,S,D!, place the "sprint" button right under the last knuckle of your pinkie, and all you have to do is gently roll your hand with "W" pressed and you are running. Simply said, the MFP is sooooo much more comfortable then a normal ASCII keyboard. Plus in the middle of game, if you feel your hand stressing, simply twist and pull, and replace the key where it is more comfortable. Great for peeps with giant hands, lefties, etc. + you can put your Jump, Crouch, and Prone on the right lower side and now you can do three things (or more) with your thumb. Genius! Only your imagination limits you as said earlier.
So to recap, only 4 out of 5 stars cuz it does NOT have

If you've flow fighter planes, you want a control stick that resembles what you used to operate your fighter. This is very close in feel... the enjoyment depends upon the software you use with it. The stick itself responds well .... you just miss the g forces.

A real improvment on their previous yoke.
I have had the CH Eclipse yoke for a month. It replaced a CH Flight Sim
yoke I had used for years. Two obvious upgrades are the
elevator and rudder trim wheels. They work very well and have
'clicks' you can feel, you can make fine adjustments. Another
obvious is the 'paddles' between the yoke arms. They operate one
axis and they work well as a rudder control. Two lighted square
buttons work, but the light is eye candy.A total of 25 'buttons'.
Each trim wheel takes up 3. The point of view hat is on the left now.
all in all it works well, and I really the trim wheels and paddles.
Well worth the street price.
A replacement yoke
I bought and used an earlier version of the CH Yoke (the CH Yoke LE as it was called) a few years ago. The old yoke had only a throttle axis and lacked the new "thumb" rudder axis and front handle buttons. Advertising for the CH Eclipse Yoke claims a better shaft. I don't notice much difference in shaft friction or smoothness, but I never had problems with the original version, either. My original Yoke LE failed when the in/out elevator axis failed, so hopefully this version, which is more expensive, will last another 6 years or longer. The yoke shaft still seems to be a hard molded plastic so perhaps only the shaft bearing material is upgraded. Desktop mounting remains unchanged from the LE version with adequate spacers to accommodate most any surface.
I use the yoke for Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane, not for driving games. I also own the CH Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals, so some of the controls on the Eclipse yoke are not being used in my setup. The yoke could be set up with a throttle axis and rudder axis, but these are being disabled on the yoke on my setup to avoid potential "crosstalk" between the yoke and the other controllers. I have also not found logical uses for some of the remaining buttons, which have not yet been assigned a function.
There are six available axis: elevator, ailerons and rudder (yoke handle), and the throttle, mixture and prop (levers on the top right). In addition, on top of the ends of the handles there are two hat switches, two rocker switches (both now are horizontal position) and two buttons. There are two "flip" switches on the body below the three lever axis. On the front of the yoke are three buttons (two with lighted LEDs), two thumbwheel-type switches, and a 3-position knob with green/yellow/red LEDs to indicate position. In other words, there are far more buttons available than I can find uses for. The LEDs on the yoke front remain brightly lit at all times unless the power supply switch on your computer is turned off or the yoke is unplugged from the port.
If you install the Control Manager software, CH claims 240 programmable functions. Apparently the 3-way switch is used to switch sets of functions (80 to a set). For flight simulator, I can't find sufficient uses for one available set, so I can't imagine what anyone would need the other two sets for unless it would be to program each set for a different type of aircraft (moving from single engine prop to commercial jet for example).
I use two of the axis levers for mixture/fuel and prop control, with one disabled in favor of my separate Pro Throttle. I have disabled the thumb rudder on the yoke in favor of my Pro Pedals. Both hat switches are used, one for glance and one for slow pan. The yoke handle buttons are set for braking. The two thumbwheel switches are elevator and rudder trim. The two flip switches are for flaps and gear. I have programmed the front buttons for overhead view (seeing position on runways and taxiways) and GPS. The remaining available buttons remain unprogrammed until I find a suitable reason to include them, so basically the yoke has far more buttons than most flight sim pilots will ever use.
Installation was made with Win7 64-bit and was nothing more than plugging the yoke into the USB port. Win7 found the drivers automatically and identified the device correctly. I did not install the Control Manager software from CH (download available from their web site). The yoke works well with both FSX and X-Plane. The yoke shaft still seems to be a hard plastic.
In summary, time will determine the durability and bearing wear of the shaft which seems to be the point of contention among most simmers for the older versions of the yoke. I did consider the Saitek yoke but was unable to find one to examine and went back to CH Products to maintain compatibility with my other controllers. So far so good. There are far more functions on this yoke than anyone can reasonably be expected to use and remember.
