An amazing controller. A game I'll never play.
I bought this just for the GameTrak controller to be quite honest. It reads as a regular joystick without the need for installing any additional drivers. The resolution of each joystick is incredible. 4000 units of accuracy for x y and z on both. As a hardware hacker, this thing is pure gold. So far I've used it for a couple of digital puppetry projects, and used it in conjunction with GlovePIE to make some really interesting 3D controls for other video games.
There are two major problems with the contruction of this controller.
1. the juncture where the rip cords meet with the female clip is always being bent when you raise your hands up. I'm sure after a lot of use, that bending back and forth will make the plastic cord break from torsion.
2. the male clips that attach to the gloves themselves. I've already made the mistake of stepping on a glove that I had disconnected (because i was worried about the cables being bent) and bent the glove's clip to its breaking point.
An easy solution would be to buy a snap swivel, like the kind used for fishing or flying a kite. You can buy some cheap at a hobby shop or hardware store. Make sure the cord is secure so it doesn't wind back in, cut off those stupid clips, make sure you use the right knot ( [...]) and super glue the knot to be sure it never comes loose. Then cut the clips off of the gloves too, and just pass the metal clip through the glove and don't bother unclipping them or worrying about the rip cords ever again.
As for the golf game itself... I never even bother playing it.
