Great Mouse, No BS Price
Very close to perfection, I actually picked up this little gem from my local Target thinking it was your average, everyday-use mouse. I also thought that the actual price was only $20 for it was on the wrong shelf. I thought, "oh well, might as well pay for something durable." Good thing I made that choice. Soon as I got home I cracked it open, plugged it in and bam, everything was fine. Windows Vista Ultimate installed the drivers automatically, so no disc was needed. Handling this thing is best described as gliding. The forward and back buttons are a nice feature, and the two sensitivity buttons are right there for when you need them. I feel so deprived that I never bought such a mouse before now and I feel the need to play every game I own over again just for the newly added accessory. Scroll wheel locks in, yet is still smooth which is great seeing as this will be used the most. I highly recommend this product and if red isn't your colour, then check out the other colours Logitech has to offer.
Great mouse that is overlooked.
When I decided to go mouse shopping I started to look at the high end Razers and Logitechs. I was in Best Buy testing different ones out on feel and such. Out of all of them, this is the one that felt the most natural. Yeah the G5 and G7 feel the same and the G7 is wireless but to be honest I just preferred the MX518SE. The weight felt just right (even if the G5 has weights). The DPi switching is smooth. However, I do have one slight problem but this is more of a personal one. The thumb button near the front is hard to reach for me. But that is really only b/c I hold my mouse from the rear end so i have to pick up my hand and reach for it. It may be just me on that; I'm not sure. Overall this mouse is widely overlooked and is a great value at the price. I highly recommend it.
Target Edition not so much
This is basically the mx518 that we all know and love, except in red and they also upped the DPI from 1600 to 1800. I bought it after my G5 broke.
Pros:
Ergonomically it is amazing, great if you are surfing the internet or gaming. I don't really do any super cool hardcore FPS gaming, I just use it for Guild Wars and what not. I'd say it's great for that considering you have to hold the mouse for extended periods of time. The thumb buttons are in a good spot, but I'd like them to be a bit moved back perhaps because I have smallish hands.
Cons:
Style - I am really not a fan of the red look. In the pictures it looks like it is a deep red that is maybe metallic like car paint. What the actual mouse looks like is a very light, ghastly cherry red. the color itself is quite flat, giving a cheap plastic look (yes I realize it is, in fact, plastic). If you have a choice go with the original. I was also hoping that, giving that this is a new version of the mouse with higher DPI, that it would use the new Teflon mouse feet. On their own they are fine, but going to Teflon then coming back, you notice big time.
Other: I can't really comment on the DPI change as I don't have a 1600 model to compare it to anymore.
